Scotland is the birthplace and the home of golf. There are a number of Championship Courses in the Scottish Highlands which offer excellent opportunities to enjoy either 9 or 18 holes amidst some of the most spectacular natural scenery in Scotland and the United Kingdom.

Fort William Golf Club is an 18 hole Championship Course set in the foothills of Ben Nevis. The course is approximately 6,200 yards from the Championship Tees and is about 12 miles west of Glenspean Lodge Hotel.

Kingussie Golf Club is just over 5,600 yards of manicured luxury set in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. It is a hilly, upland 18-hole course designed by the legendary Harry Vardon and opened in 1891. The River Gynack comes into play on 5 holes and at one point on the course you will be playing at 1,000 feet above sea level. Travel to Kingussie is approximately 33 miles east north east of Glenspean Lodge Hotel.

Newtonmore Golf Club is another of the picturesque Championship 18 hole courses not far from Glenspean Lodge Hotel. Newtonmore is just over 6,000 yards and is set in a parkland landscape alongside the River Spey. Don't be fooled by the relatively flat, easy walking and beautiful views on offer as you play the course. This is a challenging track that requires careful club selection. The course is about 30 miles from Glenspean Lodge Hotel.

If you are willing to venture just that little bit further north, the internationally acclaimed Nairn Championship Course is an absolute must see and play. Nairn is an outstanding 27 hole Championship Club with fast greens and winding fairways on the shores of the Moray Firth. Great Britain and Ireland defeated the USA here in 1999 to win the 37th Walker Cup. Founded in 1887 and extended by Tom Morris, James Braid and Archie Simpson, it has played host to many golfing greats.

The Championship Course is 18 holes, 6,705 yards and Par 72.

The Newton Course is 9 holes and 3,542 yards.

Nairn is a short drive from Inverness so you will need to leave about 75 minutes comfortable travelling time from Glenspean Lodge Hotel.
